Ebru Clegg was born in 1978 in Istanbul, Turkey.
She graduated from the Marmara University’s Public Relationships and Advertising Department. She embraced different cultures by travelling through Europe and living in Geneva for several years in the 2000’s. After returning to Istanbul she worked in the advertising industry for nearly 20 years.
Her passion for art stems from her family and her initial interest was piqued at a young age by her grandfathers oil paintings.
Her parents, maybe understanding what the future would entail, were not mistaken in naming her Ebru. Perhaps her intimacy to her art was derived from this.
According to Ebru, Ebru means:
Listening to her instincts and removing all borders by challenging traditional forms.
It also brings together her two favourite elements:
Water and colour ...
“It is possible to experience many things with these two elements; acting with the energy of water, the freedom provided by colour, reaching unexpected results, exploring more techniques and being open to innovations.
Its’s also a wonderful challenge ".
